Are your kids getting enough fruits and veggies? How can I fix this?

Are your kids, and you for that matter, getting enough fruits and vegetables? The answer is probably no. As a trainer and weight management specialist, there are still days that I don't get the full nutrition that I need daily. We are all so busy running here and there that we can sometimes put our health on the back burner for the day. The biggest challenge is with my kids. Making sure they are eating greens! The tears and complaints at dinner time can ruin your family time around the dinner table because your upset they won't eat! I feel like I do a decent job of cooking healthy meals for my family. When you know that your body needs at least 8 servings of fruits and vegetables a day and your excited that your kids ate 3 spears of asparagus, it's really not putting a dent in what their body needs, to be at optimal health. We all want our kids to be healthy with strong immune systems. As I have said MANY times before, it's about balance and making changes one day at a time. It's easy for us to make sure we are doing what we need to do, but how do we get our kids to have this same desire to be healthy when there's so much junk out there being pushed in their face? What do we do???

One change I am excited about that I really think will be the catalyst to eat healthier is this wholefood based soft chew that my kids are taking. In simple terms it's dehydrated fruits and veggies. And my kids like it! You don't know how many different vitamins and chews I've purchased to only have sit in my cabinet and get hard as rocks because my kids don't like the taste. But this one they liked. It's called Juice Plus. Not a supplement but just fruits and veggies. What a relief I've had in findning this for my kids! They are still eating what I cook but knowing they are getting what they need and not just the few bites they take at dinner is a weight lifted off my shoulders. Building good nutrition and immune systems makes me happy!
